Amanda Bossard was just out high school when she began her studies in marine biology at Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage. Bossard started her journey in the commercial seafood industry in 1999. At the time she worked as a fisherman on Murat Aritan's 65 foot halibut vessel, transformed into a fish tender. Bossard is married to Aritan. The couple has joined forces and are claiming their respective fields. Both of them are in the direction of preserving resources and maximizing the profits. Otolith was created at the time of Philadelphia through Bella Bossard who is now mother to two kids aged 3 and 1, Bossard. She and her husband are separated by five months, and more for her to be focused on her finances as well as her environmental goals. Bossard, their son Andre and daughter Isabella will return home to Southeast Alaska every summer as deckhands for the harvest of wild salmon. In the course of two months, Bossard and her daughter Isabella will use hooks and lines to hunt for their target salmon. Aritan will then sell their seafood for processing locally.
